‘Tis the season (fall, that is) when homeowners start to consider whether they should replace their old, inefficient heating equipment with something that runs better and wastes far less energy. This is an important issue in Southern California: since we don’t run our heating systems that often, we want to make sure that they aren’t energy guzzlers during the periods when we do have to use them.
If you are currently considering having a new furnace installed for your home, now is a good time to act:
ENERGY STAR High-Efficiency Furnace Rebate
The U.S. ENERGY STAR Program (part of the U.S. Department of Energy) is currently offering a rebate for Southern California residents who install an energy-efficient natural gas furnace. If you select an ENERGY STAR-certified furnace that has 95% or greater Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating, you can receive a $200 rebate. If you choose to have a furnace with 92%-94% AFUE, you can receive a $150 rebate. Visit the ENERGY STAR website to see a list of furnaces that qualify for this offer.
This a great deal, but you will receive much more from an energy-efficient furnace than $150-$200 back from the government. You’ll also receive superb heating savings every single time you turn on the furnace. If you previously had an older furnace with a 70%-85% AFUE—which is typical for furnaces more than a decade old—imagine the significant cut in the cost to run the heater! You’ll already have a head start on earning back the installation cost thanks to the rebate, and with such incredible energy performance, you can expect to have the furnace pay for itself in only a short time.
You will need to have professionals help you select and size the right system for your home. Keep in mind that only licensed technicians are permitted to install any appliance that connects to a gas main.
Kilowatt Heating, Air Conditioning and Electrical installs high-efficiency furnaces in North Hollywood, CA and throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
