It Was a Hot Summer—But You Still Need to Think About Heater Maintenance

Monday, October 3rd, 2022
Safe-and -reliable-furnaces

We know that mentioning the words “heating” or “furnace” right now may make you start to sweat. We just came through a hot summer in Southern California and the beginning of fall is also striking us with heat waves. You want to think of words like “cool” and “air conditioning,” not about anything connected to your home’s heating system.

But, although it may seem like cold weather will never arrive when the temperatures are this hot, it’s still on the way. You can feel thankful that you won’t have to deal with sub-freezing temperatures in sunny SoCal, but we do get our share of days and nights when heating systems need to come on, especially for homes located near the beach.

This is all to say that now is the time to think about scheduling heater maintenance in Encino, CA. Maintenance won’t make your house hotter while it’s going on—but it will help to keep your house warm and energy-efficient when the heater does eventually need to turn on.

🔥 With the Fires You NEED to Change Your HVAC Filters Now! 🔥

Friday, September 8th, 2017

An important air filter reminder!

Over the weekend, immense brush fires in Los Angeles County burned almost 6,000 acres. Aside from the damages, the fire caused, it also sent huge amounts of smoke and ash into the sky. This will likely have affected the air filter in your home’s HVAC system, leaving soot and dust deposits inside it. This debris not only restricts airflow for the HVAC system, it’s potentially unhealthy for the people in your household!

‘Tis the Season… to Shut Down Your Furnace (Southern California, After All!)

Monday, February 20th, 2017

large-furnaceWe experienced a colder beginning of the year than is usual for Southern California—although many other parts of the country would laugh at what we consider “cold”! If your household is one of the many that uses a natural gas furnace for warmth during the winter, you probably got some serious use from it during January and early February.

But Southern California warms up fast and warms up early. We’re almost to that point of the year when the air conditioning system kicks in and then stays on, while the furnace naps until November.

But you shouldn’t simply stop using the furnace and call it a day. (Or a summer.) A natural gas furnace requires a few steps to properly shut down at the end of cold weather. This will help it stay in good shape and keep your house safe.

Psst… Want To Save Some Money?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016

Saving money is very important to our homeowners.

Money is an important factor in our everyday life whether it be spending it or saving it.

Hello. My name is Jessica and I work in the office as the Customer Service Representative. Today I’m going to tell you a little bit about the importance of having your heating and AC system inspected periodically by a licensed professional.

Did you know that your heating and air conditioning system loses 5% of its overall efficiency every year it goes without proper professional maintenance.

According to the American Standard website “it’s best to perform bi-annual service to ensure your system is working optimally.” Kilowatt professionals recommend having your system on a maintenance and safety inspection plan which includes two visits per year once for cooling and once for heating, 20% discount on any needed repairs, and priority scheduling.

During the maintenance and safety inspection a drug-tested, background-checked, factory-trained technician will inspect and evaluate your system and make any needed adjustments to prevent breakdowns. There are many benefits to a maintenance plan which include:

  1. Saving Energy. A lot can happen to your heating and cooling system over time that prevents it from performing efficiently. When a technician inspects your system he will ensure that the system is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible, which will cut down on the amount of energy it uses. SAVES MONEY
  2. Avoid unnecessary repairs. When you have The maintenance and safety inspection performed twice a year, it is possible that you can stop problems to your system before they start. Which might save you an emergency service call in the summer when you need your system the most! SAVES MONEY
  3. Keep your home safe. If you have a gas furnace like many homeowners in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles area, there is a chance that carbon monoxide can leak into your air. When performing seasonal maintenance, a technician may be able to identify safety risks and possibly fix any problems before they pose a threat to your family. SAVES MONEY
  4. Extend the life of your systems. One of the best benefits of Seasonal maintenance is that it will extend the life of your heating and cooling system. Just like oil changes and tune-ups keep your car in good shape, seasonal maintenance will keep your heating and cooling systems healthy for seasons to come. SAVES MONEY

Thank you very much for your time.

What Sort of Lifespan You Should Expect from Your Furnace

Monday, November 30th, 2015

IMG_8221One of the more common questions that we hear from customers is how long they should expect their air conditioner or heater to continue to work before replacing it. People in Southern California usually have a good idea about air conditioner lifespans considering how much work those units put in every year. But the situation is a bit shakier when it comes to heating systems. Heaters are a necessary part of comfort during the year, but they do less work than air conditioners.
