Why Air Conditioning System Sizing From Professionals Is Necessary

Years ago on our blog, we warned customers about the dangers of purchasing HVAC equipment online. There are plenty of reasons for this, such as getting a system with a voided warranty. A common item people purchase on their own is high-tech thermostats, thinking they can’t go wrong with basic climate controls. Unfortunately, a mismatched HVAC system and thermostat can end up damaging the HVAC system.

But the most important reason to never purchase HVAC equipment online is the issue of sizing. Unless you’re a professional HVAC technician, you won’t know how to properly size a new air conditioner to work correctly for your house. Sizing must be precise. A system that’s too large or too small means years of trouble from an AC that never seems to work right.

What Makes for a Good HVAC Installation?

Monday, January 14th, 2019

FamilyHVAC3When we talk about installation of a new heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system for a house, we often say things like, “If you have a good installation, the new system will save money on energy costs.” Or, “If you have a good installation, you won’t have to worry about hot and cold spots around your home.”

But what do we mean by a good installation? “Good” is tricky to pin down, and HVAC systems are supposed to be precise. What counts as a good installation? How do you make sure you have one?

We’ll break down what goes into a good HVAC system installation.

A Few Things to Consider when It’s Time to Replace Your Air Conditioner

Monday, April 3rd, 2017

Spring and summer both arrive early here in Southern California. Or perhaps it’s better to say that winter never really arrives, only a short period of cooling off with some scattering of rain showers. (Admittedly, one of those “scatterings” of rainfall this time was a massive downpour that caused flooding. That’s going to happen every once in a great while.) Because of how fast our weather warms up toward the high heat of summer, there isn’t a bad time to make the choice to install a new air conditioning system in Beverly Hills, CA or elsewhere in Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley. But spring is still arguably the best season for the job, since it puts an AC into place in time for the biggest part of its workload.

If you think your home is ready for a new AC this spring, we have some advice and a few things to think about. Making the process easier is as simple as contacting our team: the sooner you have us involved, the better your air conditioning replacement will go.

The Importance of Air Conditioner Coil Cleaning

Monday, May 2nd, 2016

One of the most common reasons for an air conditioner becoming energy inefficient and driving up bills is due to a dirty condenser coil. This coil is located in the outdoor unit of an air conditioner (the condenser) and it’s responsible for releasing the heat the refrigerant absorbed from the inside of the house. A fan draws the warm outdoor air across the coil, causing condensation to occur that deposits the heat from the refrigerant to the outdoors. If there is dirt, dust, or other grime along the coil, it’s much harder for this heat release to happen because of the insulating effect. Dirty coils can use up as much as 37% more energy than clean coils—that’s a major difference!
