‘Tis the Season… to Shut Down Your Furnace (Southern California, After All!)

Monday, February 20th, 2017

large-furnaceWe experienced a colder beginning of the year than is usual for Southern California—although many other parts of the country would laugh at what we consider “cold”! If your household is one of the many that uses a natural gas furnace for warmth during the winter, you probably got some serious use from it during January and early February.

But Southern California warms up fast and warms up early. We’re almost to that point of the year when the air conditioning system kicks in and then stays on, while the furnace naps until November.

But you shouldn’t simply stop using the furnace and call it a day. (Or a summer.) A natural gas furnace requires a few steps to properly shut down at the end of cold weather. This will help it stay in good shape and keep your house safe.

Kilowatt Earns Esteemed 2016 Angie’s List Super Service Award

Thursday, February 16th, 2017

Kilowatt Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical has earned the home service industry’s coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award, reflecting an exemplary year of customer service to members of the local services marketplace and consumer review site in 2016.

This achievement is particularly significant as Angie’s List experienced unprecedented member growth in 2016. More than 1.6 million consumers, many of whom were eager to quickly hire highly qualified service pros, joined Angie’s List after the company added a new, free membership tier.

“Companies that can meet higher demands without missing a beat in their exemplary performance standards truly do stand apart from their peers,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Only a fraction of the Heating & Air Conditioning companies in Los Angeles were able to do it.”

Angie’s List Super Service Award 2016 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade, and review period grade. The SSA winners must also be in good standing with Angie’s List, pass a background check and abide by Angie’s List operational guidelines.

When presented with the award, Kilowatt president Dean Gilford thanked the Angie’s List members who wrote many glowing reviews, “Our team works hard every day to provide the best possible experience for our customers. It means so much to have our efforts recognized with this prestigious award and the kind words of our customers. Thank you.”

Located in the heart of Sherman Oaks, Kilowatt has provided their neighbors in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley with A+ Rated HVAC and electrical services for almost 30 years. All work is guaranteed.  One thing customers appreciate about Kilowatt is the no-obligation free estimates for new or replacement heating and air conditioning as well as home re-wiring and circuit panel upgrades. Customers also raved about Kilowatt’s affordable straightforward pricing for maintenance and repair services.  “They are a great company,” is a frequent refrain in Kilowatt’s reviews.

Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List as new, verified consumer reviews are submitted. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality.

For more than 21 years, Angie’s List restricted access to its verified reviews to consumers who paid membership fees. When the company removed that barrier, some companies worried that the new, non-paying members would not be as engaged as members of the past. Experience has shown, however, that these newly added members are just as engaged – across all age groups – as prior members. Also, because the company continues to adhere to its review verification process, there has been no degradation of review quality.

“The biggest change at Angie’s List is that we are connecting even more consumers to high quality service professionals,” Hicks said. “And that’s good for everyone.”

It’s Already the Right Time for AC Maintenance!

Monday, February 6th, 2017

air-conditioning-unitsSouthern California just passed through a patch of rainy and cold days, but now the sun is out again and temperatures are climbing. It won’t be long before we start into the steady warm period, followed by the hot summer.

Right now, when there are still a few cooler days (and maybe some rain) ahead, is the best time to arrange for your annual air conditioning maintenance visit from one of our experienced HVAC technicians. We recommend that all our customers sign up for our HVAC maintenance program, which also includes service in the fall for your heater.
